A Fruitful Day: The Simple Ways I Enjoy Fruit
I love food. All kinds of food. And fruit is right up there: cold berries, juicy citrus, beautiful grapes, a perfectly ripe pear.
Looking through these photos, I realized how many little opportunities there are to enjoy fruit throughout the day. Alongside breakfast. Something to snack on. Something to share. Dessert.
So here’s a little peek at how I eat mine. Hopefully something catches your eye and makes you think, “Oh, I want some of that!”
A sweet side with breakfast

A few strawberries alongside something savory. How beautiful is that?
Fruit can fit right onto the plate with whatever breakfast you’re already enjoying. In this case, toast piled with greens, coffee, and strawberries on the side.
A little sweetness, a little color. #eleganza
Cold berries, ready to eat

Cold fruit straight from the fridge is my favorite!
I like to wash my berries, let them completely air dry, then pack them in the fridge. When I want some, they’re ready.
And sometimes I put them on a plate and sit down to enjoy them. Look at those raspberries. They deserve a moment.
If you tend to buy fruit and forget about it, try making it ready to eat and putting it somewhere you’ll see it when you open the fridge.
Something to share

Grapes, berries, and citrus are my favs. Put them together and you have something lovely to pick at while you sit and chat.
This photo makes me smile because the fruit is still in a practical container. You can make a beautiful platter if you feel like it, but you can also put the container on the table and enjoy what’s inside.
Buy what looks good to you. Mix a few favorites. Pass them around.
A kiwi and a spoon

Slice it in half. Grab a spoon. Instant party. 🎉
That’s the whole preparation.
If you’ve been passing kiwifruit by because peeling and slicing feels like a bother, give this a try. The skin becomes its own little bowl.
My dessert

That was my caption for this photo: “my dessert.”
Sometimes a plate of grapes is exactly what I feel like after a meal. Sweet, juicy, and ready to enjoy.
Fruit deserves a place among the things we eat for pleasure. A really good grape can make that point all by itself.
It starts with what catches my eye

At the grocery store or farmers’ market, I look for fruit that makes me curious or excited to eat it.
Sometimes it’s something I already love. Sometimes it’s a variety of orange, apple, or pear I haven’t tried. Sometimes it’s a fruit I’ve never even heard of.
I can bring one home and see what I think. That’s part of the fun.
Let what looks beautiful, ripe, or interesting inspire your next fruit purchase.
Find your next little fruit moment
You could start with strawberries beside tomorrow’s breakfast. A plate of cold berries this afternoon. A kiwi and a spoon. Some grapes after dinner.
Pick something you’re excited to eat and give it a place in your day.
Let’s get some of this good stuff into us. 💚
What fruit are you loving lately—and how are you eating it?
